1939 Omega Black Gilt Dial Cal 30 SC T2

Description:

A very early and collectible Omega manual wind from the late 30’s. The watch has a very rare black lacquer gilt dial with radium hour markers. Gilt dials are a special manufacturing process where the dial is first coated in plated gold and then the lacquer applied. This means the Omega name, hour markers and seconds track are actually below the black lacquer. The watch is in fantastic condition for its age with the case still having crisp sharp edges and the movement quite clean. The dial and hands show their age honestly with the dial having damage to the lacquer as its started to spider. The hands have aged as you can see from the images. The red seconds hand is still in great condition . We have fitted the watch with a brand new 18mm bonclip/ladder/bamboo bracelet. This is a pretty cool piece for an Omega collector and the engraving on the back doesn’t take away from its uniqueness as it marks a special point in time for its first owner.

Dial:

The dial is black lacquer with gilt logo, hour markers, minute and seconds track. The hour markers are painted radium. The Hour and Minute hands are steel and had radium luminous compound. The Seconds hand is painted red.
